I bet you, he can walk through any door like JOHN WAYNE. I donĀ“t like JOHN WAYNEs.

I am trying to understand a comment on the gender of this artist's subjects.
Why would an artist make content choices based on any criteria other than that artist's personal aesthetic?
Two comments back, if you do not recognize your desire to control something that is not for any of us to control, let me point it out to you. The fact that you are wielding only a subtle observation as opposed to a directive makes it more insidious.
In effect, you are instructing Travis to find a different set of subjects. Or else what?

I'm not in any way critisizing Travis' choice of subject matter, only making a observation of a certain theme that has emerged to me over the past 5 day. Not sure why that would be considered insidious. Isn't the point of having comments to get people to share thier observations and perspectives? I try and take photographs everyday and really enjoy when i realize that i've been photographing different things in a similar way or similar things in a different way - sometimes it's a concious decision, sometimes not. I really like how Travis' photographs capture what a diverse and complex world the subway can be - and sometimes within that world there are certain patterns and themes that are revealed - about light, space, people's behavoir, they way they dress, interact...this is why i find this work so compelling...
Is that Mikel Bloomberg?
Balancing act.
heh, he sure has his feet on the ground eh ;P
There have been only men (rather solitary and pensive men) on the subway for the past few days!
