aight, im confused. what is the goal of this add? invest stock in german companies? invest in their ecconomy by goin to Deutshland lookin for girls like this one?
ijust left germany yesterday after being there for 2 and a half months and this shit cracks me up because you get the impression that germans expect you to come over to see world cup, learn about the holocaust, or visit some castles.
but all that aside, her dress is awesome. and so is this picture.

THANK YOU!
bea, germans expect you to do so, because nearly everyone from the us does!! i can tell, because i am german. if you would have dare to head up to some people in germany you would have find out that there is a lot more than world cup, holocaust or castles!!
for example hospitality and tasty beer! ;-)

Naw man, you got me wrong. i didnt visit any castles, lost my interest in the holocaust when i saw how many Americans came over JUST for that, and i really got kinda annoyed when every person asked me if i came to Germany just for the world cup. i loved being there this summer.. i was living in Munich with a friend, traveling around, and then volunteering in Berlin, and please believe i met as many Germans as possible: hospitible and humorous are definatly words that come to mind. however, none of them invited me to "invest in Germany" and i'm pretty sure this ad would make a lot of my friends laugh because, as you said, most Americans "come on over to [your] place" with slightly different motivations.

I am in Germany for the summer as well, interning at a German company (I am a student from NYC), and those ads are everywhere here too. (And often in English, oddly enough.) I like the visual appeal of the ads but the text isn't completely convincing or even entirely clear what its intentions are. The ads here tend to tout German engineering and inventions, but I am not sure why they would put them up here--for people visiting for the World Cup? The other ads you see constantly are Pall Mall cigarettes and a "Stop Aids" ad with condoms on various phallic vegetables.
However, there are also ads here advertising New York on public transit, so it's reciprocal. Then again many ads period feature New York backdrops or references, and it seems to be considered "cool" here, at least by the marketing drones.
Germany is a great country, but it's unfortunate they need ads to convince people of that :)
I don't know if I would choose the witchy-DIVA-Supermodel to represent Germany though. My staff and I were victims of the rude and spoiled, childish and non-professional behavior of her and her "handlers" during a tour to promote her fitness video.
WOW is all I can say. You read about this stuff (Call Me Miss Ross) but to witness it in person and to be a victim of the behavior is something else again. My staff spent two days constructing an area for the Diva to meet with fans and sign the videos they had purchased. People lined up for up to 5 hours before the event. We were instructed that NO ONE should speak to her- in fact NO ONE should look at her as she walked in through the back. The DIVA decided 20 minutes into a contracted 2 hour appearance that she didn't like the venue, didn't like the chair, didn't like the pen...you get the idea. She sniiffed her nose at the unwashed masses and LEFT. The now furious fans proceeded to destroy the store before they left. She is however, a legend in her own mind.
Strange campaign, strange girl but an excellent photo - well done again, Travis! :-)
crabby go bye bye

She is, all in all, an object. Very beautiful, but not human. That she treated people shabbily is sad, but not surprising.
As for lording over the huddled masses going to and fro in the depths of the seething city, she is the perfect image. We don't have to know another thing about her beyond what we see.

I felt exactly like Jazz when I first laid eyes on this shot. I am absolutely amazed by the irony in this shot.
