R Train ~ Rector St ~ 9:30am

Hope everyone likes this enough to look at it for a few days. I'm off to Georgia for work and won't be able to post until Sunday. I don't think they have a subway system in Savannah.

  1. Yes, I like it well enough. The hands sharing the stabilizing force of the pole, omnipresent earphones, and the womans beautiful, soft face in profile. Enjoy your time in Savannah - drink it all in.

  2. Nice. Great use of DOF. It is such a good 3D shot.

  3. Those hands are leaping off the screen.
    Fantastic.

  4. Wonderful. Love the focus on the hands. You've also inspired me to get a prime lens for my 20D. I've not been at all happy with the cheap kit lens that came with it.

I had my first real visit to NYC last spring and took the subway from my friend's place in Brooklyn to Manhattan several times. I loved it. The subway is a very energetic place and seems the perfect location for the masses to rub up against one another.

Thanks for a really cool site.

  5. Travis... you have no idea what you've done for me. My friend just sent the link to your site. Amazing. You have a magical eye, and now everyday I can visit and say hello to my beloved NYC and its fantastic people. You got me cryin. Say hello to Park Slope... and if you read this before going to Savannah... make sure you eat at: Mrs. Wilkes' Dining Room LOCATION: 107 W. Jones St. (Historic District) Savannah, GA 31401

  6. great utilization of a common scene to imply a deeper meaning.

  7. I always try to estimate the time of rush hour-(am or pm?). I'm guessing this is a morning rush hour scene-I'm going by the perfect gloss on the guys spikey do to the right and clean finger nails on the men.

    Any guesses?

  8. aracelis-
or you could read the title that says 9:30 am.

  9. The postures capture a sense of burden, sorrow, grief--

  10. Great shot. I particularly like its crispness (DoF) on the close hands. Nice!

  11. So close to one another yet so far from one another

  12. just read the ny times feature. congrats mate!!! well deserved.

  13. That's a great shot. I admire the way you get this kind of work, using a large DSLR.

  14. wow, realy filled up. it reminds me to my trip to riga last year. similar feeling...

  15. Amazing shot! There they all are, holding on to the same pole, hands just a couple of inches from each other, and no communication between them. Each occupied with their own thoughts.
