I'll be down in Texas for the next couple of days so if all goes well the next few days postings will magically post themselves.
I'm going to be down in Abilene at the opening for an exhibiton of images from this project. The exhibit will be held at the Abilene Center for The Contemporary Arts.
Travis:
Have a safe trip.
Loving this image and the child holding on tightly. Though the image is blurred, you can easily detect the fear on the child's face. My nephew is about the same age and he too takes these dangerously descending rides with his mom.
Rode the subway to BH today and had you on my mind the entire time. I was imagining I was you.
All the best on the exhibit!
Thank you. And thanks to everyone who inspired me to keep at this crazy excersie!
I had the same thought...No time for gentle nurturing here--the mother/nanny hears the subway coming, unceremoniously scoops up the kid (note improvised hold she has on him) and makes a beeline down the stairs.
BTW, this picture brought to mind my single worst fear when I was a little kid--having the subway doors slam shut between me and my mother as we got on/off the train, thus leaving one person stranded on the platform while the other was whisked away into oblivion!
Great sense of motion. Perfect.
It is colerfull and gray and pink . It is coerfull and gray and pink
Great motion photo, and i'd imagine you was on the move too so it's even better.
Vertiginous, exciting, works as simple abstraction, this one's a cracker.
Enjoy the time in Texas. I think it's quite an exciting thought - Abilene is about as far away from the culture of the New York Subway as you can get - well, maybe Poteet would be further.
Be sure to report back how you felt about seeing your work on display, what the comments were, because you know, "enquiring minds want to know".
You know there is a time when a project starts to become work. You did a good job at that time in redoubling your efforts and reaching in to find a new committment. Thanks Travis.
Have fun down there Travis. Looking forward to your return.
Hurry back Travis. Enjoy ya-self!
A friend of mine was just describing taking the steps two or three at a time with his toddler, and of course you have the shot...
