He def. looks like some sort of action hero. Also, the way that the shot is sort of off balance works extremely well here. It takes some serious bravado to shoot a photo of that guy!!
Fantastic and congrats with the article in the Times! I don't visit everyday, to much work with my own shots but when rhere is time at night I sit and read your story backwards :-) The light man, and the people, so cool.
Whatever he is listening to is sure blocking out everything and making him feel how he looks im sure. its definately an odd look for a subway commuter. How you did this one I dont know. Its up there with the best I think.
Travis...I've been a fan for a long time and never made a comment, but this one drew me out. Absolutely riveting image, even a little scary. I don't think I would have had the nerve to point anything at this guy. Your work continues to blow me away.
This is the best for quite a long while - I agree with all the comments, but my wife and thought "Rock Kauser"'s description of him as "one rigid gent" was brilliant...
Just found you on Photo Friday. You've a lot of stunning work!
I was convinced you'd hired this guy, or maybe he was a friend until I read the about page. I know a good photographer who often complains that trying to do subway photographs makes people mad, clearly there's something to having the right approach.
he's not real. the sitting woman is saying something. she's alive. he's an empty garment

The guy has presence, I'm not sure which is more daring...you pointing your camera or him staring an obvious hole thru you, you're both guilty...!! he has the advantage though and perhaps he's saying, "You need my agents permission..!" I never like to put my main subject in the common center...but rather to the L or R and this is very well done.
The bundled up winter seasons are my favorites, I think maybe it's hidden character that comes out, more distinct.
Bizarre... all the more interesting.
Intense.
Shades of Neo.............I would not mess with this guy.
that guy totally thinks he's in some kind of suede version of the matrix. but nobody else seems to notice.
who stands like that on the train? with their hands like that at their sides? odd.
Fab! I feel that when he leaves, he'll say something like "I'll be back."! Great capture!!
He reminds me of Brad Pitt, in 'Fight Club'. I honestly dont know how you can do this, taking a shot of him front front on. Amazing.
he posed, i bet.
I agree, the Matrix certainly comes to mind, and I like he contrasts with the more gregarious person to the left.
Is he stuck in the door? That's one rigid gent.

he looks more like some kind of weird insect...
How well you chose the characters in your pictures!

This is too cool. Do you have this as a wallpaper? (possibly large? 1680x1050) - i'd really love to have this on my computer.
That's my son!
When he's plugged into his music, he's in the zone.
