One of the details that I find endlessly fascinating about the subway experience is the sense of levels and layers (architecture and emotional). The inside of the car connects to the platform life for a brief moment and then carries off its passengers. I find that moment when the doors open and we transfer ourselves from one situation to another to be a very amazing moment to watch. You just never know what is going to happen, or who is going to happen.
yes, it can be a real high sometimes hey?
it's a very evocative picture, though it feels much more like a moment of general calm than one of movement and chaos - maybe a reflection of the self...?
I know what you mean when you say layers, for passing by different stops is like short movie clips one after the other, different from the next.
nicely captured
Travis,
I just wanted to drop a note to say that I've been a lurker for some time and just had to let you know I think you're doing an excellent job. Your work is bold, wonderfully shot, and compellingly presented. Please keep up the great work. I envy you.
I've been around here for a year or so, never read any of previous commentry or posted any for myself, im curious; do you just put up the camera and shoot?
where im from, people at the trains frown or look at each others like im a freakwhen I do that.
i assume you dont ask every guy, fact is, i assume you just do it I dont even quite know why Im asking this right now after all this time following your page.
however
tatah.
Excellent composition and colours. The woman offers a delicate contrast to the other two men.
I like almost all your pictures, if I don't comment more is because many times I don't find the words.
nice violet!
Just last evening we watched "Girl With a Pearl Earring", the fictionalized story behind the famous Johannes Vermeer painting. And today I open your site and find the 21st Century version.
The womans face, so serene, the hat & scarf, the packaging containing the flowers all create an image that seems out of place with the surroundings and the mysterious man on the right. The earring....visible only as a point of lightin the shadow of her face. In the Vermeer painting the earring is simply two brush strokes.
She is very beautiful.
