A creative spurt again. This is so delightful, smiling faces on the subway - truly joyous expressions. I'm left to wonder what's in the bag she's peeking into. And then there's the absurd juxtaposition between the delightful young girls and the man dressed as if he's on an Antarctic adventure, complete with Bono sunglasses and a "gop" (what they used to call this hat in the Italian neighborhood). I'd love to be able to zoom in on the sunglasses in photoshop and see what's reflected!
I like this picture because the girls look like tourists, happy and enjoying the time that they are having in the city. Hardly ever do I see people dressed so warmly that they are happy at the same time.
The gent in the shades is way to cool to be interested in why the kids are having such a great time! I do like his almost smirk at your camera.

Travis, My maiden name was Ruse and I never met anyone else with the name. My father and his twin brother were born in Canada in 1903 and his faither's name was Charles Ruse. My dad never talked of him except he and his brother ran away to Ohio when they were 14 to find a half sister and lived with her. Where is your family from originally? You can write me at "liznewyork@copper.net". It is a strange name and I had an English tescher in high school who called me "Tricksie" tied to the meaning of ruse. I live in Red Hook. Enjoyed the article in the Times and your photos. Thanks, Liz Thayer (I did not take back my maiden name when I divorced many years ago.)

Suttle birds for the camera is probably enough for the two young girls to have a few grins.

Am I crazy, or is that David Lee Roth?
