  1. Amazing! Love the way he stands out, the fact that he seems to be facing the opposite way to most of the others. Swimming against the tide as it were.
The guy front right, in his own way, he's as unreal as the central character.
As always, I love it. Nice one!

  2. The two guys by the door suggest something's happening behind him but he's too afraid or emabarrased to turn around and find out. It's a very "English" look, almost as if the London Underground were moved to N.Y. A great photograph!

  3. So, NY'ers CAN smile. That's good to see once in a while. Thanks for capturing that.

Um Travis, some of your fans wouldn't mind seeing what YOU look like (even if you do wear a hat with a feather in it).

    :))

  4. My thoughts exactly, nice to see some smiling faces for a change.

  5. Rasheed and Phil bring up an interesting point. There seems to be a "game face" and attitude that people slip into as they enter the subway, or perhaps the moment they step out their door. Disconnection, tight personal space bubbles and a pretense that no one else exists in the larger space of the subway car. This seems very strange, but possibly a defense. The only times people smile or interact in your photos is when they are accompanied by a personal acquaintance...or they're a child.

Can you imagine anyone sitting down and simply striking up a conversation with the person next to them, or is that strictly taboo in the realm of subway rule sets?

  6. I tell you when I see someone smiling or laughing i always try and make a photo. it's like i'm seeing a rare bird or something.

  7. Funny how he is trying so hard to ignore what is going on around him. As if he thinks that if he ignores it then it will not affect him.
