This is one of those local only hallways. You might work in this building for a year before you figure out the bat tunnel to the Grand Central Terminal subway stations. Anyone care to guess where it's at? Couple of hints: it's at my final destination. And, this is an Art Deco jem of a building foyer.
Sorry I have no idea where it's located. Next time I'm there I'll try and have a better look around the station, instead of standing on the stairway landings (always out of the way) and people watching. I really like the photo though, there's just something nostalgic about shoe repair shops. I also really like the Cat's Paw logo...I've gotta look for find one of those posters.
A shop like this one in subway station... interesting.
is it 42st, lexington ave.
Amazing such a thing still exists in the Walmart age.
beautiful retro shot
Chanin building, I take this route to work every day as well
We have a winner! I remember when I discovered I could cross the street from work, go down this hall, through the subway station, through Grand Central and make it all the way to 44th street without going outside. Really helps when it's snowing outside and you don't have the right gear.
I don't live in a city where there is a subway/underground. I kind of envy you...just walking to work is urban exploration!
I used to drop off my shoes at this place to have them fixed while I was at work in midtown. I haven't seen this place in years and it still seems to be going strong. O'Sullivan and Cat's Paw...What a rush!!
I live in Australia, now, and seeing this image really takes me back a bit...Thanks, Travis!
