Heading to work ~ 9:10am

Thank you to eveyone who came out Friday night! There was so many inspiring things said about photography and photoblogs. If you missed it I hope you can come out next time. I found it really great to have to put into words what this project has meant to me. If not a fair bit stressful. But you know what they say, If it don't kill you......

I shot this image last week. Many of my selects from last week were very heavy on the blacks. I think it was so hot I just couldn't bear to think about lights. This image makes me feel like I'm underwater.

  1. I know this isn't very useful, but this immediately reminded me of that Daft Punk "Robot Rock" video, with the starburst reflections and power guitars. There's something way glamourous about this shot that feels more seventies than contemporary. One of the things that makes this photo stand out for me is the way you have such sharp reflected and projected lights--so different from the tepid lighting inside the train cars. Good to meet you the other night; it was good to hear you talk about your methods.

  2. It was great putting some faces with names! Thanks for coming out. Yeah I think this is probably kind of a rare image. Three trains going at once. I think you're right though I feel like I saw this image from news casts in the 70's. Or maybe a TV sitcom opener.

  3. I feel like a deer in headlights. Really captivating.

  4. Hmmm. I wasn't wowed by the picture yesterday when I first saw it, but I went back today (as I always do, for a second impression) and now it seems incredibly beautiful, almost like an etching in places. I love how that center track feels so ghostlike. And I have to say, I'm noticing blue lights in the tunnel alll the time now. I find myself thinking, "Oh, I'm seeing this image like Travis would."
I'm sorry I missed your presentation. As it turns out, my softball team had our most miserable game of the season, losing 12 - 1. Ouch. I should have come to the presentation...

  5. The intersection of colors is quite a nice effect. I enjoy this photo very much. Your composition here is quite good and pleasing.
