Did these women know you were photographing them? Sometimes I'm afraid to take pictures of people in public spaces. I wouldn't want to offend them by capturing them. But then again, people are interesting creatures. Most of the time I'll be sneaky about it and crop out my knee or something. But, it's nice to capture people in everyday situations. And I like this photo.. it's simple in it's own way, yet the two women have a story line between them.
Non-New Yawkers wonder how the natives can read on the subway with all the noise and crowds. It is a discipline anyone can acquire. I wrote a substantial chunk of a PhD dissertation on the 7th Ave IRT. As always, a wonderful picture.

Nice shot. I often find subways to be a good place/time for leisure reading. The picture definitely brings out their level of concentration on the works at hand.
Nice picture, really. Your blog has been mentioned in a larger danish newspaper today (article on cyber-travel and virtual vacation), therefore i´am here. One of the finest photo-blogs i´ve seen. Please visit my personal non-blog photopage MIFO TIMEPIECES on www.mifo.dk
