And for those moments when the subway is not at it's best there are scenes like this. We emptied out of the 7 train onto a smoke filled platorm. No announcments, no MTA personal, just this dust filled smoke. Everyone ran. It was awful. Today was the first day I started to smell the heated, stale smell of the approaching subway summer. Those that ride regularly know what I'm talking about. It's not a nostalgic smell, like Grandma's closet. More like heated moldy socks. And August is four months away...
nice capture.. but dont you think the picture is over exposed?
I love the shapes here. And the haziness I would think would come from the wetness and cold that usually inhabits the subways.
How otherworldly, like a tunnel on another planet or something. And a wonderfully eerie and foreboding description. Your pictures make me feel someting every day.
what a light ! this picture is great to the color !
I love it :-)
Wow. That "fog" and the metallic structures pending from the ceiling make for such an extraordinary and "out of this world" picture...
About the "summer smell", I know what you're talking about. -haha!-
the haziness works. somehow by just glancing at this, i thought the flourascent light tubes were openings on the ceiling and sunlight was pouring in.. but this is the subway.. i know..
Each time I visit your blog you are able to amaze me.
I don't know what to say. Great, fantastic...
Awesome!
i love the exposure in this photo. it DOES feel other-worldly.
What station is this exactly? I don't recognize it at all. The shot is fantastic. Lighting is wonderful.
I love the lighting structures, they are very unique...At least I have never seen anything like it. It adds an ethereal feel to the setting.
This is the 7 train platform at Grand Central Station. That's an arriving train from Queens.
wow, you've mangaed to capture a landscape, underground.
without your explanation of the smoke, one could think it were fog in an alien starship or something like that. very strange, very impressive!
Amazing. You turned New York subways into a futuristic spaceport. I could totally see something like this in The 5th Element.
I love the lights, the shapes en the foggy atmosphere of this shot.
Wow, great light.
so fresh.
Incredible
brilliant shot! award winning i feel. get it out there! Kepe up the good work!
I've never seen that station look so good!
