Two trains headed downtown side by side. It's always a wonderful chance when you get to ride side by side with another train. I'm always fascinated by who or what you end up looking at. I'm also endlessly surprised when I pick up the camera and they just stare back at me. It's like the deer in the headlights. They must see the shutter firing, I wonder what they must be thinking.
ha ha ha .. nice catch .. i really want to know what's in their mind :)
How happy are they??? Gee, guess you didn't get a sign consent form on this one huh ;)
Great shot.
I often wonder what people's reactions must be of you taking all these photos on the subway. Do they mostly ignore you, or do you get asked a lot of questions, nicely and not so nicely?
Confused & Angry.
I second Joann's question. Do they just figure "Hey, another weirdo with a camera!"?
I remember this scene from Star Wars Episode One, right before Liam Neeson bites at at the hands a Darth Maul!!! Yeah, that was a good one.
Do NOT feed the animals! Excellent shot!
:) Funny expressions... But I don't like people taking photos of me. Whenever I see someone taking photos I try to stay away. ;) I prefer to be behind the camera.
Great picture! You should anonymously mail this shot to the MTA during their next fare hick. One passenger obviously disgusted at the thought the other totally afraid of the out come..........
fantastic capture!! i love their expressions, these kind of photos are priceless!!
If i pick up my camera and someone covers their face or exhibits any other sign of non approval I do not take the picture. of course I've had people turn away from me, but I've only had a few people stop me to ask what I was doing. Both times they sited their concern of terrorist in the subway. I don't fault them but I do blame the MTA for whipping up this fear. I carry biz cards with the web address and hand those out to folks that I strike up conversations with. That's been fun. Usually though we're all so anxious to get home that no one really asks a lot of questions. I will only shoot one situation when I'm in a car. I figure after that my cover is blown and everyone is pretty much watching what I'm doing. I kind of like how that forces me to be very selective about what I shoot. There's a lot of watching, waiting, previsualizing, and then jumping into it. I'm always expecting someone to say something when I lower the camera, but as I said that rarely happens, usually it's just a stare from somewhere else in the car....
Now I wonder if this is in the morming or afternoon :-) Great catch and since there are camera's hidden everywhere why not taking pictures? Actually lot's of people feel flatered when taking a picture of them.
that guy looks like hes ready to kick your ass! nice capture.
Its like the man is about to say, 'Hey what are you doing'.
I guess that is one of the best parts of photography, taking guesses.
Thanks for your explaination of how you take the pictures inside the car. Some of the people really do look like t hey'd be pissed at you. I'm glad to hear they're usually not! But the guy in the right on this one looks like he'd LOVE to kill! LOL!
Great photos!
it's amazing how angry people appear in public. maybe it's just apathy about privacy and the camera. it's funny though, i bet if you were brandishing a news tv camera with a big channel logo, they would smile and say hi to their moms or something. what a terrific image! I think your work is amazing.
