And if you were 3ft tall you'd be pretty nervous too. That is the steady hand of Dad coming over his shoulder though so he is not alone. As a father of two I can sympathize with that unfortunate rush hour commute with the kids. Some times there is nothing you can do about it. Life conspires against you. In this case Mom had a little girl in her lap on a seat and dad and son had to surf it out till 14th street.
yo,just wanted to start by sayin this site kicks ass- i check it everyday for my lil dose of new york... this pic is great to me because of the composition, the diff textures of black coats, but most of all the worried eyebrow that kid has goin on! his dad's hand is on his shoulder... great eye, mr. travis. keep on keepin on.
It would be really difficult, finding some words to say more than this photograph... just bravo!
Just too good. I love the composition.

Your choice to cast light only on the kid's face and the hand--I think it's the father's hand--kicks this image up several notches to near sublime. I am very moved by it's power..thanks for it.
Very moving. The boy looks a bit scared and lost in the world of adults. He doesn't feel safe there. Even though you can see only a half of his face, it is so expressive. Excellent.
very good moment capture :)
makes me smile, it induces the kind of feeling you would get from a national geographic image
I really like the feeling of the image. I love that you can't see most of his face but just enough to understand how scared he must feel surrounded by all those big people.
Wow, he seems very afraid in this grown up world...
Great capture.
wow, this is such a powerful picture. the eye, the crinkle just above it, th ehand, the coats, colors, light, texture. really evocative.
this is one of the greatest photos i have ever seen. keep up the fabulous work.
Beautiful picture. This look is poignant! Bravo!
I think there is a danger, that this is the most evocative yet
WOW!!!
My proverbial socks have been blown off Travis. This is beautiful, and so much more. Thanks for lighting up my day.
Incredible. Such a powerful and emotive photograph.
This is one of the best pictures I've seen on this sight.
This is so powerful, I love it. It brings back many memories of being in that age and being that short and looking at word from that point of view. You have an amazing eye to capture this.
Excellent!
...right, I can't add anything more than this: I do believe that technic, materials or whatever have never to prevail on the heart of a good fotographer. Here Mr. Travis, I can see all the brightness of your hart, always engine of your photos. I can see a great autor. sincere compliments
